Connect Comcast / Xfinity email

Airo can connect an existing @comcast.net mailbox. Receiving mail uses IMAP and sending uses SMTP; Airo fills in the server settings for you. Comcast is a convenience preset within Airo’s configurable IMAP/SMTP connection. Other providers can use their own server settings. A mailbox hosted by another service is not covered by this preset, even if its address still ends in @comcast.net.

Check where your mailbox is hosted

This connection supports Comcast accounts still hosted by Xfinity. If you have accepted the move to Yahoo Mail and now read your Comcast mailbox in Yahoo, this preset will not connect: migrated accounts need Yahoo server settings and may require a Yahoo app password. Enter the Yahoo IMAP/SMTP settings and app password in the custom server fields; do not use the Comcast preset. See Yahoo’s migration guidance .

Before you connect

  1. Open Xfinity Email  and sign in with the email address you want to connect. Confirm that you can read mail and that your password works.
  2. In Xfinity Email, open Settings → Security and enable third-party email access. Xfinity calls this permission Allow access to my Xfinity Connect email through third-party programs. See Xfinity’s instructions  if the option is hard to find.
  3. Sign in to Airo with Google or Microsoft, then open Settings → Accounts → Connect another email. IMAP connects an additional mailbox; it cannot create an Airo account or sign you in.
  4. Enter the full you@comcast.net email address and choose Continue. If you changed your password, confirm the new one works in Xfinity Email first.
  5. Airo suggests Xfinity settings automatically. Enter your password, then choose Connect mailbox. To inspect the servers, choose Change provider or server settings. If migrated, choose My Comcast mailbox moved to Yahoo instead. Airo checks both receiving and sending.
  6. Wait for the first sync. No Airo email verification code is required.

The preset fills in ports and server addresses. For reference, the connection uses imap.comcast.net:993 and smtp.comcast.net:465, both with TLS.

Your password is encrypted and stored by Airo so it can check mail, wake snoozed threads, and deliver scheduled sends while the app is closed. Airo does not send the password back to your device through its token API.

After connecting

The first sync can take a few minutes, especially for a large mailbox. New mail is checked periodically rather than arriving through provider push notifications. Refresh your inbox to check sooner. Background mail checks currently run about every ten minutes; timing depends on the service and your account’s access and subscription state.

Send a test email to yourself and confirm that it arrives and appears in Sent. Then try a draft, an attachment, and a read or archive change. Check the same mailbox in Xfinity Email to see the changes there.

Daily email in Airo

The goal of this connection is daily email inside Airo: reading and sending mail, organizing it, and using scheduled sends, snooze, reminders, and Airo filters. It does not include all the account services available with Google or Microsoft. Your plan still determines which Airo features you can use.

What works, and what differs

FeatureComcast in Airo
Read, compose, reply, forward, drafts, attachmentsSupported. Conversation grouping follows email Message-ID and reply headers, so it can differ from Gmail or Outlook.
Read/unread, stars, archive, spam, trashSupported. Moving mail changes its folder. Restoring from Trash returns it to Inbox.
Scheduled sends, cancel/reschedule, undo-sendUses Airo’s server-owned outbox, including when the app is closed. Airo must be able to reach Xfinity and authenticate at delivery time.
Snooze and remindersUses Airo’s server-owned timer and a Snoozed folder. Waking a thread moves it back to Inbox. Wake jobs currently run about every fifteen minutes. Reply-aware reminders depend on replies having synced.
Airo filters and AutoFileSupported for archive, trash, mark read, star, move to one folder, never-spam rescue, and forwarding. Rules run when Airo processes mail, so background rules follow the polling delay. Plan requirements still apply.
Gmail-style multiple labelsUnavailable. A Comcast message lives in one folder at a time. Applying a destination folder moves it; it does not attach another independent label.
Importance flags and folder colorsUnavailable. Use stars instead of importance.
SearchPlain text and supported chips such as sender, recipient, subject, folder, date, unread, starred, attachment, filename, and size. Advanced Gmail operators and Boolean expressions are not fully supported.
Gmail/Xfinity-native rule import or editingUnavailable. Airo rules are separate from rules configured in another email service.
Contacts, calendar, cloud-drive filesNot provided by this mail connection. You can still type recipients and attach files from your device.
Provider signatures, aliases, automatic vacation repliesNot managed through this connection. Manage Xfinity’s mailbox settings in Xfinity Email.

What we left out

  • Multiple labels, importance flags, and folder colors. We use Comcast’s real folders and stars. We have not added private Airo labels that disappear when you open another email client.
  • Contacts, calendar, and cloud-drive integrations from this connection. Type recipients and attach local files; this connector does not bring in Google’s or Microsoft’s account services.
  • Managing aliases, provider signatures, automatic vacation replies, and provider rule import. Configure Comcast mailbox settings in Xfinity Email. Airo filters remain separate.
  • Instant push and full Gmail search syntax. Mail arrives through periodic checks. Unsupported operators produce an explanation rather than being silently ignored.

You can revisit this summary in Settings → Accounts on web or mobile, without starting setup again.

Search examples

Try from:sender@example.com invoice, subject:"Invoice due" is:unread, has:attachment filename:pdf, or after:2026/01/01 in:inbox. Search combines these filters; it does not support Gmail categories, importance, OR expressions, negation, or every advanced Gmail operator. For example, larger:10M is unavailable; size:10000000 searches for messages larger than that number of bytes. To search literal text that looks like an operator, quote it: "rfc822msgid:hello".

If connecting fails

Access was rejected: confirm that third-party access is enabled for this exact mailbox, then check the full email address and password. Sign in to Xfinity Email to resolve any account verification or password-change prompts. Return to Airo and retry with the password, not the verification code.

Receiving works but sending is unavailable: Airo could connect to IMAP but not SMTP. It does not add a receiving-only account. Wait briefly and try again; this can be a temporary Xfinity service issue.

Xfinity could not be reached: retry shortly. A temporary outage does not mean your password needs to change.

Mailbox limit or an existing account link: follow the account-limit message or use the Airo account that already owns the mailbox. Changing server settings will not resolve an Airo account-link restriction.

A scheduled send needs attention: inspect Airo’s outbox. If delivery is unconfirmed, check Sent and the recipient before sending again; a connection failure after SMTP acceptance can leave delivery uncertain.

Mail is missing or still loading: refresh and allow the first sync to finish. The connector currently supports mailboxes up to 100,000 messages and individual messages up to 25 MiB. Large conversations or mailboxes beyond those limits need attention rather than appearing as a successful empty inbox.

Changing your password or disconnecting

After changing an Xfinity password, open Settings → Accounts in Airo and reconnect the affected mailbox with the new password. Airo verifies receiving and sending again. Reconnect messages retain the selected mailbox address so you update the intended account.

Removing the mailbox from Airo stops its access through Airo. You can also disable third-party email access in Xfinity, but that affects other email apps using the same permission. Do not rely on scheduled delivery or snooze wake-up while the mailbox is disconnected or access is revoked.

Need help? Contact Airo support. Include the error message and mailbox domain; never send your password or verification code.

Reconnecting checks your mailbox credentials; no Airo email verification code is required.
